Medical Transcriptionist College: Is it REALLY Necessary?

There is a lot of controversy about whether or not college is really necessary in order to obtain transcription jobs. Some people say yes and some say absolutely not. There is some truth to both opinions. The route that you choose to take is completely up to you.

Since everything related to the economy has been headed down south for quite some time now, people are becoming more interested in exploring work-at-home alternatives. At first, the idea seems impossible because of the strong association with scams and work-at-home jobs. The skills that are taught in transcriptionist college are very important to have when looking for transcription jobs.

The upside of getting an education includes an easier time finding a higher-paying position. The starting pay for someone who is fresh out of transcriptionist college is about .08 cents per line, and hourly pay usually starts at about $9.00 per hour. As you can see, there is a very big difference. You’re not going to get as frustrated trying to make out what the dictator is saying, thus wasting less time researching the terms. The downside is that you have to wait until you get your certificate before making that kind of money, which can take up to two years. But in the meantime, you may want to try offering your services for free or for a lower-paying wage if you really want to get to work right now.

If it is your decision to get enrolled into a transcription school, again, there are plenty of options. The internet carries a lot of information on transcriptionist colleges, which can be found by using Google or another popular internet search engine. Accreditation is important, so don’t forget to check that out as well. You’ll have a larger variety of transcription jobs to choose from when you receive training, and you won’t have to look that hard to find work.

So, is training necessary? For higher pay and more opportunities, yes. If you want to work from home and just make some money, then no it’s not. Determine what your goals are before making a decision, and also consider your current situation. A quality education is recommended, but not required.
