Medical Transcriptionist Income: Just How Much Can You Really Make?
It’s helpful to know that when you are looking for ways to make money that there are always transcriptionist jobs. What is so great about transcriptionist jobs is that you don’t need a four-year degree or a lot of previous experience, if any at all. People have varying opinions about how much transcriptionist income can really be made when working from home, which is okay because not everyone makes the same amount.
There are generally two types of ways that a medical transcriptionist is paid. The first way includes hourly pay. Starting hourly pay for someone who does transcriptionist work is around $9.00 per hour. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know that this is not the end of the road. Just like other jobs, in medical transcription, there are raises. Depending on who you work for, you’re going to make anywhere from $9.00 to about $20.00 per hour.
The second way that transcriptionist jobs receive pay is by the line. People who are considering becoming medical transcriptionists are strongly urged to accept jobs that only pay by the line because the chances of making more money are much higher. If you choose, you can make $7.00 per hour for as long as you would like, or you can make up to $40.00 per hour or more. Another reason why this method of pay is preferred is because you can make as much as you want. If you’ve got the time, you can make up to thousands of dollars per week.
After receiving a certification, you’re free to choose what company you want to work for, or, if you prefer, you can go out and choose to work for a doctor and charge your own rates. The list of transcriptionist jobs available is endless. You can find them anywhere online, in hospitals, and in doctors’ offices. They are everywhere; all you have to do is search for them. Either way, your chances of making a high transcriptionist income are very likely.
One of the ways to increase your income is to obviously accept transcriptionist jobs that pay by the line. Once you’ve found your job, it may not seem very hopeful that you will be making a lot of money in the long run because you’re a newbie and your skills aren’t that great. In time, all transcriptionists who stick with their job and keep at it become better at what they do. It’s sort of like your job becomes secondhand nature. You attain the natural ability to understand difficult speakers and your speed of typing increases.
Of course, for more transcriptionist income, you’re going to need the essential production-increasing devices such as word expander software and a foot pedal. It usually takes the average transcriptionist about two years before making what they want. Different transcriptionist jobs start off at different amounts of pay. Some companies start off at .06 cents per line, and some of them start off at .10 cents per line. If you’re making .10 cents per line, and typing an average amount of 1000 lines per day, you’re going to make $100.00 per day. If you’re making .12 cents per line, and your speed increases to 2000 lines per day, you’re going to be making $240.00 per day.
As long as you’re determined and set on making a certain amount, it’s completely possible. Making large amounts of money with transcriptionist jobs is also promised because you’re probably not going to get laid off. If you work for a company, there is always the option to work for a doctor as well just so you know you will be provided enough work to meet your income needs. It’s definitely not hard to see why medical transcription is such a preferred professional career.
